Just a small animation I had to make as part of an assignment for college.

Welp, never used Flash for animation in my life, only web design :IIIIII.
But hell, IT KINDA MOVES SO FUCK IT. :D

'Sposed to be demonstrating a few of the principles of animation...

I just did a close up animation of two guys squinting in anger (eyebrows angling down and cheeks covering lower eyes)... I have to say it took SO MUCH MORE time than it should have! How did you get your cheek-covering-lower-part-of-the-eyes to be so smooth (granted, mine were much slower for dramatic effect, but still not very smooth).

I think this is pretty cool. Considering you never used Flash for animation, this is awesome for a beginner. Perhaps sometime down the road I'll have the honour of collaborating with ye. ^^

Now start doing frame-by-frame and then you're getting there ;)

Honestly, it always starts from nearly nothing. And I don't even animate... yet.

Oh, and no, frame-by-frame isn't always the only good animation, it's just the best to learn first imo.

Heh, I'd would've gone entirely frame-by-frame, I prefer it honestly, but the assignment called for the use of tweens, so I had to make due with what I had :p

Ah, odd assignment but I guess it's because that shows how well you can learn to use something else than just the frame and your tablet and some other things. Tweening is more complicated yet it seems so much more easier :P
Or at least that's what I've understood...

Bit of advice if you want it. The main joint that should be moving the most is his wrist and the movement needs to convey enough energy to send the ball that high. As is it looks like the ball should barely leave his hand.

Heh, aye, I was going to make the wrist a separate piece but I'd probably have gone past the deadline :p
Thanks anyway (:

Let's see... "Test Animation for College"; "never used Flash for animation in my life, only web design"

Clearly a mistake or two is to be expected.

Just pointing out that it's Veggie's first attempt (by what I take the description to be saying) at animation and mistakes are bound to happen. :|

Haha! I'm just finishing my 2D animation course at my college, so I know them feels (though I've never used Flash before this, and I didn't draw). I like it! A lot of realistic movement with the ball, like when it is lagging behind the movement of the hand the first time it moves down, and quite realistic bounce and arc (I remember mine was quite difficult...). You really got a lot of movement and things happening for such a stationary character (which is fantastic: making a still character look like it's moving a lot = less work = profit!)

Was it one big drawing with the layers tweaked with for the moving parts? Like a layer for the arm and a layer for the body and stuff?

Dem motion tweens. Still, pretty smooth looking. Do you think you'll ever do any shorts or is this just a one-off for your assignment?
