The progress so far of a tattoo I plan on getting in July, after my exams.
I'll update it whenever I can (:
Reason behind it found at bottom
Did some research into the various depictions of Phoenixes online, so this is influenced by many various artists and styles, primarily the likes of ~GinevrA26592
as I found the more decorative tail to be more fitting than a gust of flames. And this is what I wound up with
The two banners to the right will be situated above and below the Phoenix, both of them are quotes from my idol, John Frusciante.
It's only a rough sketch, the artist who'll be doing it for me will be responsible for the final design of course, I just want to try give as many pointers as I can (:
____________________________ What's the reason behind it?
[Copied and pasted from Blue Entertainment, since I'm lazy]
It's a mixture of inspiration of several things;i.) My mother [D'aww]
ii.) My idol, John Frusciante
iii.) My 8-year-old self
- The banners; That's not the finished font) "Hold[ing] tight to dreams that never end."
("Song to Sing When I'm Lonely "- John Frusciante [link]
("Look on" - John Frusciante [link]
What do they have to do with me?
Well, the first quote is pretty obvious, since I'm finishing school this year and heading to college, I'll be hoping to pursue my many dreams and life-aspirations and not to let them slip.
The second is also to do with the above reason. I did a lot of stupid shit when I was in school and younger, but here's to looking on and learning from the mistakes of my past.
- Behind the banners I want a rising Phoenix, this is where my mother and my 8-year-old self come in.
When I was 8 years old, "Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix" had just come out, and being the non-pessimistic child I was back then (Unlike today), I spent about a month drawing my version of the UK Cover ( That's the book-mark lying on it's side above )
But I remember losing the cover, I had spent WEEKS drawing and colouring, and I was so miserable for about a month. But then my mother found it behind some place, got a friend to make a stylized version version of my name on the back of it, lamented it and made it a book-mark.
A book-mark I still use to this day (:
When I realised that the desire for a Phoenix was not just a subconscious decision I'd made (Fell out of my book earlier whilst I was reading, annoying the shit out of me :v), I knew this was what I wanted.
Can't really summarize it.
So, just make up your own story :v
So, yeah, that's about it!
Just a rough little plan that (hopefully) the tattoo-artist will be able to work with when I've it finished! Feels nice to actually enjoy doing a piece of art for once.
