season 2. i feel like it found the best balance between appealing to the fans without mindless pandering, had the most energetic animation, some of the best episodes, the best character balance, and both the two parters were fantastic. i liked season 1, but i feel liuke there were alot of episodes that were only okay, though i did like the character development. i did not like season 3.
Hard choice since I like them all but probably number 2 because we: Got more Derpy with purposely goofed eyes Derpy's voice Excellent songs The great and powerful draconiquus! (No Trixie but that's alright) And the season finale was freaking INCREDIBLE! Luna Eclipsed (Halloween... and common, Luna rocks!) Hearts and Hooves day (Valentines) The read it and weep metaphor (The steps of becoming a brony... HA!) Fluttershy's assertiveness and character development And a nice little glimpse at the history.
And don't get me wrong, the other seasons were also fantastic such as Season 3's development of Pinkie Pie's character and the fourth wall (Stopping in mid air so slowly slip into the water without making a splash) but season two takes the cake. All in all love the series!
This is actually really tough to answer. Season 2 was fantabulous, and Season 3 exceeded all of my expectations (which were high). I think, for the sake of all that wonderful character development, I'll pick season 3. Especially with the return of Trixie and Discord.
Season 1 was a good start...a little too obvious with Twilight as Miss Protagonist, though.
Season 2 had some great episodes (the premier and finale, especially) and probably the best songs, as well as more character development from the rest of the Mane 6.
Season 3 had some good character development episodes (Sleepless in Ponyville, Wonderbolt Academy, Keep Calm and Flutter On) but it seemed like they were trying to do too much in too short a time. Especially the finale. Too many songs crammed into 20 minutes. I know they were going for a musical-esque feel, but it was way too rushed. Season 3 would've ended better with a 2 part finale, but it still had some good episodes.
I was very dissapointed with season 3 finale too. It's like all the writers went on vacation other than the song writers. It had terrible pacing and honestly was not interesting or suspenseful in any way. Even more so a waste considering how much I have enjoyed all their other season premiers and finales. Only thing that gave me hope was Luna and Celestia sharing a somewhat worried glance(or so it seemed) at the very end. I look forward to the next premier for that at least.
Mmhmm! I don't think episode 12 (the one where the Mane 6 go to the Crystal Empire for the Equestria Games) should've been an episode--too redundant, and it took away from Spike's episode IMO. Episode 12 should've been part 1 of the finale and episode 13 being part 2
Im thinking the whole equestria games thing might be a set up for some later episode stories. Rainbow Dash for example, and maybe Apple Jack could be competing late or somesuch. It was neat how the two linked up but yeah if it doesn't lead to anything it will have been a pretty pointless episode as well.
well, you have to remember that they only had 13 episodes to do everything, half their usual 26. to include everything they wanted to do without it being more rushed than a turtle at a road runner convention is genius on the writer's part.
Still. Instead of having the pseudo "two part episode" (11 & 12) with Spike and the pets and then the Mane 6 in the Crystal Empire, I think they should've let Spike have his pet episode and then had episodes 12 & 13 be the finale.
I liked the fan base the most during the time of season two, every one was EXTREMELY active, but now most people are busy with albums and such. I how ever liked season 3 the best story wise. A lot of cool stuff happened in season 3 so yeah XD.
season 2 was my fav cause thats where i feel the REALLY hit their stride and got everything down pat. season 1 they were still getting into the groove of things. and season 3...that final episode...something must of gone wrong like time constraints or something...disappointing considering a final episode of a season should be the pinnacle of said season and should be the most worked on and best produced...
